IBTE accessibility statement

This statement applies to the ibte.me website and the IBTE student portal at app.ibte.me. Both are run by Institute of Business Technology and Engineering FZ-LLC ("IBTE").

We want as many people as possible to be able to use our website and portal. That means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts;
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen;
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard;
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software;
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader, including recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver.

We have also worked to keep the language on our pages as clear and simple as possible, which matters to the many students who study with us in a second language.

How accessible this website is

We know that some parts of our website and portal are not yet fully accessible:

  • some application and enquiry forms are difficult to complete with a screen reader or voice commands;
  • some form fields do not have descriptive labels;
  • some images do not have suitable alternative text;
  • some page elements do not meet colour contrast requirements;
  • heading structure is inconsistent on some content pages;
  • some recorded lecture and promotional video content does not yet have captions.

Getting information in another format

If you need information from this website in a different format, such as accessible PDF, large print, easy read or audio, contact us:

Tell us the page or document you need and the format that works for you. We will consider your request and reply within 10 working days.

Reporting accessibility problems

We are always looking to improve the accessibility of our website and portal. If you find a problem that is not listed on this page, or you think we are not meeting accessibility standards, email help@ibte.me with the page address and a short description of the difficulty you experienced. Screenshots or details of the assistive technology you use help us reproduce the issue.

Support for students with disabilities

Accessibility on this website is separate from the learning support we provide on campus and online. Enrolled and prospective students who need adjustments to their studies, assessments or campus access can contact the Student Affairs Office, or read about Disability Support in the student support section of this site. Requests are handled confidentially.

Technical information about accessibility

IBTE is committed to making its website and student portal accessible, and we use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 level AA as our standard.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 level AA, because of the issues listed under "How accessible this website is" above. Each item has an owner and a target date in our accessibility work plan, and we update this statement as fixes are released.

PDFs and other documents

Some of our prospectuses, forms and policy documents are published as PDF or Word files. We are replacing the ones essential to applying and studying with accessible HTML pages, and any new documents we publish will meet accessibility standards. If a document you need is not accessible to you, ask us for it in another format.

Live video

Live online classes and webinars are not captioned in real time. Recordings published afterwards are captioned, and students who need live captioning or a note-taker should contact Student Affairs in advance.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

Accessibility is reviewed as part of every change we make to the website and portal. Alongside fixing the issues listed above, we are:

  • testing new pages with keyboard navigation and screen readers before release;
  • adding alternative text and captions to existing images and video;
  • rebuilding application and enquiry forms with descriptive labels and clear error messages;
  • training the staff who publish content on writing clearly and structuring pages correctly.
